Hello!! This week...
it's been super busy! Full of walking, sweating, teaching, finding, and
miracles. :) There is so much that goes on in just one day, it's hard to depict
everything that happens. But I'll give you the highlights. :)
I kicked off my
second week in the mission field with a baptism! Sooo amazing. :) Sweet Donna
Conely was baptized this last Saturday. It was such a neat experience, and she
had some amazing support both from the ward, and her family. As part of the
program I had the privilege of singing I Know My Redeemer Lives. The Spirit was
so strong for the entire program, and Donna was completely overwhelmed with
happiness. :)
Yesterday, we had
four investigators come to fast and testimony meeting, which was awesome! Sister
Clayson and I also taught Relief Society on member missionary work. That is
something I've noticed that this mission focuses A LOT on. And it's so
important! Sister Clayson and I try to have a member come with us to every
lesson we teach to an investigator. This is totally the member's work too...
because when an investigator is baptized and is now part of the ward, it's the
members responsibility to fellowship, reach out, and befriend that new member.
Missionaries come and go, and that's why it's so important for the new member
to have friends within the ward they can feel comfortable with. :) So... I have
a challenge for you all... to really get to know the full-time missionaries in
your own ward, and volunteer to go to lessons with them, and get to know the
investigator! I STRONGLY believe that members make the difference! :)
The people here are
kind of nuts... haha. A ton of them totally don't have a problem answering the
door practically naked. It's cool. Not really. :) And it's really interesting,
because almost every other door we knock ends up being a Vietnamese immigrant
who can't speak a word of English. :)
I don't have a whole
lot for this week, mostly because I can't remember what else we did. :) But we
have put 4 other of our investigators on date for baptism, Nena and Dusty for Aug
30 (marriage-tism) and Avery and her daughter Miley for Sept. 13!
Man this church is
true... it's so incredible seeing these sweet people being taught by the
Spirit! There is nothing but complete joy that we all feel when we recognize
that. I am so grateful for this gospel! I am in awe of how much it changes
people and their lives for the better! :) I love this work, I love you, and I'm
continuing to pray for each of you daily. :)
Love, Sister Henderson
